Scott Clevinger
Scott Clevinger is a man on a mission. Deeply committed to his family, faith and work, there is nothing that gets in the way of the things that matter most. The son of a shipbuilder, Scott learned his first life lesson at the shipyard on the banks of Virginia’s James River. The original motto of the company was a quote from its founder Collis Potter Huntington: "We build good ships here, at a profit if we can, at a loss if we must, but always good ships." Those words stuck, and Scott set forth in life with a fundamental belief in always doing right.
Scott's career has taken him around the world - from Seattle to New York City and Denmark to Brazil. An expert strategist and proven leader, he is valued for his attention to detail and ability to listen, absorb, learn, and communicate complex issues. Scott has worked as an educator, entrepreneur, corporate communications designer, technologist, project manager, business executive, and consultant. He has served clients ranging from small businesses to Fortune 300 companies and government agencies. With a very diverse background, he is adept at solving the most difficult, critical business problems in new areas. He has an innate ability to lead by influence, making him a natural and respected leader. He often reflects, "I've made a career of being thrown into the deep end of the pool." Yet, regardless of how deep, Scott’s holistic view of projects combined with his methodical approach and ever-clear communication style rise him straight to the top.
Scott has managed the implementation of numerous business and production systems, coordinated the architectural master planning of a $75 million office building in Rio de Janeiro, and led a $150 million, fast-track consolidation of production facilities for the largest metropolitan newspaper in the U.S. Scott earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Christopher Newport College and is a graduate of the Executive Development Program at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
The status quo does not set well with Scott. He’s looking for more in life, and oftentimes that “more” is found on a bicycle. A lifelong cyclist, he has toured the Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife, ridden the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay with his daughter, and spent summers on the Virginia racing circuit with his son. He’s on a mission – and if you’re part of it, you’re in for quite a ride.
