100 miles on a bike. Ponder that for a moment. It is not an endeavor for the faint of heart. It is also not something one wakes up and decides to do one Sunday. It's intense. It requires planning - real, thoughtful planning. And it's something Josh has made a habit of doing. Every summer Josh completes at least one 100-plus mile Century Ride. Like his bicycle, Josh is a well-oiled machine when it comes to planning his rides, thinking through every scenario as it relates to time, distance, energy, daylight and impending darkness. Training alone is long and arduous, requiring long-term discipline and commitment.
Josh likens planning for a long ride to planning for a consulting project; and overcoming the occasional flat tires and potholes to navigating clients through unforeseen business obstacles. At the end of the day, the goal is a successful finish, to a ride or to a project. But this doesn't just happen. Like a good ride, a successful business strategy requires upfront planning to understand the goals and desired results. And Josh's results speak for themselves. Throughout his 15-plus-year career, the former senior manager at Accenture and director of Gap, Inc.'s internal consulting group has driven results for both startups and some of the world's biggest companies. Motivated by the chance to tackle the most challenging of assignments, he's done it all -- from developing strategies for new businesses to leading process improvement and solution-deployment initiatives across the consumer products, retail and technology industries. He earned a degree in finance from the University of Southern California, and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Having recently relocated to Portland from San Francisco Josh is soaking up the Pacific Northwest scene - often from the comfort of his Cannondale road bike.
