Preparing for the next hundred years A century ago, the organization that would become Albertina Kerr Centers opened its doors to people in need in Portland. Today, this local nonprofit has an annual budget of $28 million and serves the community with a wide range of programs, all made possible by multiple donations and the efforts of 800 employees and 1,000 volunteers. One of those volunteers is Chris Adamek. Chris donated his consulting skills to Albertina Kerr Centers and helped with the implementation of an important new program – a Constituent Management System. Similar to a CRM for nonprofits, the application allows the organization to manage all constituent-related information, including donation levels, program interests, service requests, contact information and more. It captures key customer data and develops a campaign approach for particular market segments. That means smarter allocation of marketing dollars and a better return on investment. Wisely managing data is basic business 101 in the for-profit world, but it’s often a challenge for nonprofits. Thanks to Chris and many others, Albertina Kerr Centers is equipped to effectively utilize its vast amount of constituent data. Who knows, maybe it will allow them to serve the community for another hundred years. We hope so. |
